Festive Decorations and Stalls

When the Christmas Market is on Prague is transformed into a sea of lights, festive decorations and stalls offering numerous Czech delicacies and gifts. You will find an array of gift ideas such as wooden toys, hand-made jewellery, traditional puppets, Christmas tree ornaments, candles, Bohemian Crystal and more. As well as looking for gifts, you can observe how Czech traditional food is made, be sure to try some svařák (hot wine) too.

There is a petting area for children, where they may stroke some sheep, goats and even a lama. One of the most magnificent sights is of the Christmas tree in Old Town Square draped in dazzling lights against the backdrop of the Square's gothic skyline. The lights are usually turned on at 5 pm every night. Many local and international choirs perform carols and musical ensembles at the Old Town Square, as well as schools from all over the Czech Republic dressing up in traditional costume, entertaining market visitors.
