In 1849, a railway was connected to Eastbourne, which allowed tourism to develop. By 1850 Terminus Road was laid over what was previously a muddy path to the sea. The promenade was built and the pier opened in 1872. Eastbourne has gone on from strength to strength and remains a firm favourite for tourists looking for a coach holiday to the South Downs.

Eastbourne Pier
This traditional Victorian pier has plenty to offer anyone in need of a good day out. There are two large family entertainment centres, with amusements for every age, as well as various other attractions for all ages to enjoy.
Redoubt Fortressn
It’s one of only three surviving Napoleonic fortresses in the UK. Built in the early 1800's, the Redoubt Fortress has defended the Eastbourne coast for nearly 200 years.
Beachy Head
