The management and staff offer a wealth of knowledge guaranteed to make your journey the experience of a lifetime with a carefully tailored programme of day and weekend tours as you step back in time to the golden days of rail travel providing the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of modern day life, a world away from overcrowded commuter trains and motorway traffic jams with ‘The Statesman’ transporting you effortlessly through some of the most breathtaking and beautiful countryside Britain has to offer including their steam hauled “Fellsman” trains over the magnificent Settle to Carlisle railway and “Lakelander” steam train around the Cumbrian coast to Ravenglass – Whatever the choice of destination they invite you to sit back and relax with a journey on board ‘The Statesman’ celebrated train where the journey is as much a delight as arriving.
Reserved seating is arranged in groups of 4 around a table (no airline style seating) with bookings for 2 seated side by side in open carriages - a buffet bar is available throughout most of the journey for the purchase of hot & cold beverages, snacks and alcoholic drinks.

Reserved seating is arranged in groups of 4 or 2 around a table laid with crisp linen and dressed with the finest crockery in 1st class open carriages with additional legroom, wide cushioned seats and panoramic windows. Meals are prepared on board by their chefs and silver served at your reserved seat by liveried stewards. A full wine & drinks list is available with an ‘at seat’ service during the meals. Further refreshments during the journey may be purchased from the buffet bar.
This is the ultimate travel experience – seating is in their refurbished Pullman style umber & cream air conditioned wood panelled open carriages ‘Apollo’ & ‘Sovereign’ offering additional legroom, wide deep cushioned seats and panoramic windows with seating arranged in groups of 4 or 2 around a table laid with crisp linen and fully dressed with the finest crockery and glassware. On a typical one day tour the ticket price includes a reserved seat, glass of chilled bucks fizz followed by a full English breakfast and late morning tea/coffee service with pastries prior to the arrival at their destination. On the return journey you will be welcomed back on board with a glass of chilled champagne and a selection of tempting canapés will be served followed by a four course dinner with ¼ bottle of house wine, coffee & petits fours. An ‘at seat’ drinks service is available for purchase throughout the day.
