Dusseldorf Christmas Markets Coach Tours
A trip to Dusseldorf in Advent is a very special experience. From November 17 to December 23, the Christmas market is presented with individual themes at different places in the lively city centre. All around Konigsallee, Gustaf-Grundgens-Platz with its new ice-skating rink and several other imaginative theme worlds invite to tours of discovery. During almost five weeks, more than 250 festively decorated huts transform the city into a winter tale for the whole family. The 450 square metres ice rink on Gustaf-Grundgens-Platz has its premiere this year and is free of charge for all. Christmas fun on skates is guaranteed against the background of the attractive architecture of the Schauspielhaus (playhouse). Just as magical a setting for the Christmas market is Dusseldorf's town hall on Marktplatz. Beneath Dusseldorf's landmark, the equestrian statue of the prince-elector Jan Wellem, metal smiths, glassblowers and candle makers offer their hand-made wares. The Engelchenmarkt (little angels market) on Heinrich-Hein-Platz is distinguished by its Art-Nouveau setting. The market on Flinger Strasse, linking Marktplatz and Heinrich-Heine-Platz, has huts modelled after historic Dusseldorf town houses. The traditional Gluhwwein pyramid serving spiced hot wine has become a distinctive, popular meeting point over the years. At the Sternchenmarkt (little stars market) on Stadtbruckchen square, giant crystals and sparkling stars on sky-blue stalls create a dreamy winter landscape. On Schadowplatz, the Christmas market is especially family-friendly and lively, with a merry-go-round and a puppet theatre in a heated tent to make the little ones happy. Around Schadowstrasse, there are stalls offering arts and crafts, snacks and Christmas drinks and another merry-go-round for the children. Tip: A stroll along world-famous Konigsallee is a must. The giant chestnut trees along the boulevard sparkle with thousands of lights, radiating a wonderful Christmas atmosphere.

Foreign & Commonwealth Office Advice
Stay safe overseas - know before you go
Whatever your reason for travelling abroad, you are sure to want a trouble free trip. Many of the things that often go wrong for travellers can be prevented or made less stressful by taking a few simple precautions. So it makes sense to spend a little time getting prepared before you travel - you could save yourself a lot of problems later on.
With this in mind, we are working with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to help British nationals stay safe abroad. The FCO website (www.fco.gov.uk/travel) offers straightforward travel advice, top tips and up to date country information to help you plan your holiday.
Tips include:
• Make sure you have valid travel insurance, even if you're only planning a short trip.• Visit your GP at least 6 weeks before you travel to get any vaccinations you might need.
• Read up on your destination, including local laws and customs.
• Make photocopies of your passport, visas and insurance details and leave a copy with a relative or friend at home.
• Register with the FCO LOCATE service to tell them where you're travelling to so the embassy and crisis staff can provide better assistance in an emergency such as a tsunami or terrorist attack.
You can also find handy checklists to use before you set off and whilst you're away. Plus it's worth reading up on what the local British Consulate can do to help you if you run into problems abroad and what they can't do.
For all this and more information, visit the FCO website: www.fco.gov.uk/travel. Or if you prefer, call the 24 hour FCO travel advice line on 0845 850 2829
